Job Summary
Martha’s Vineyard Hospital is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our operating room team. The Surgical Technologist will support surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists by preparing and maintaining the sterile field, arranging instruments and supplies, and assisting during procedures to ensure patient safety and efficient surgical care.Key Highlights:

Job SummaryThe Surgical Technologist is an integral member of the operating room team, working alongside surgeons, nurses, and anesthesiologists to ensure safe and efficient surgical care. This role is responsible for preparing the operating room, maintaining a sterile environment, and supporting the surgical team throughout all phases of a procedure.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain the sterile field, surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Scrub in for surgical procedures and pass instruments, sutures, and sponges to the surgeon.
Assist with suctioning, sponging, retraction, patient positioning, and draping as directed.
Ensure proper handling and labeling of operative specimens.
Assist anesthesiologists and circulating nurses during the perioperative process.
Monitor and maintain equipment and surgical preference cards.
Participate in patient transfers to/from the operating room and recovery areas.
Perform room turnover, cleaning, and terminal sterilization of instruments and equipment.
Adhere to all infection prevention, safety, and hospital protocols.
Participate in continuing education, mandatory staff meetings, and required annual trainings.
QualificationsEducation: High School graduate or equivalent.
Certification: Active Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required at time of hire.
Experience:
Minimum of one year of operating room experience or equivalent training in surgical patient care.
Knowledge of sterile technique, instrumentation, and operating room procedures.
Additional Requirements:
Current CPR certification.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.
