GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the OR manager, the Surgical Technologist Lead Coordinator - OR will serve within the OR leadership structure. Serves as the primary representative of the surgical technologists regarding all matters related to the Surgical Technologist job, function, role, job enrichment, career progression, education, training, and orientation. Maintains clinical responsibilities of at least 60%. Seen as a primary role model within the department.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQURED:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required. Graduate of Surgical Technology program accredited by CAAHEP, Dept. of Education, or Council on Occupational Education (COE) required. Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Surgical Technologist with extremely complicated/complex case experience required. Prior experience serving on committees or workgroups, and/or has served as an active participant on projects within the operating room where the focus has been related to quality, patient safety, operational efficiencies, cost initiatives, practice changes. Participating on shared governance committee(s). Able to demonstrate expertise in specific specialties and be a preceptor/teacher.CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
Current BLS certification required or become BLS certified within one month of start date. Current certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist required. Maintains certification by participating in continuing education. Failure to retain certification will result in reclassification to a non-certified Surgical Technologist with appropriate change in pay.
