What We Offer Surgical Charge Specialist Lead Flexible Schedule Monday - Friday Remote Job Summary The Surgical Charge Specialist Lead for Endoscopy is responsible for ensuring accurate, complete, and compliant charge capture for all endoscopy procedures across multiple regions in North Carolina and South Carolina. Working as part of a three‑member team, this role reviews surgical logs, validates and posts charges, maintains information accuracy in Epic and other surgical information systems, and supports endoscopy leaders with scheduling and workflow coordination. The specialist collaborates closely with clinical leaders, analysts, and charge capture teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure the integrity of patient accounts. Month‑end coverage and regional travel are required. This position requires strong analytical ability, a solid understanding of medical terminology and endoscopy workflows, and proficiency with Excel and Epic. Candidates should demonstrate critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with cross‑functional partners. Some management experience is preferred. Key ResponsibilitiesCharge Capture & Revenue Integrity + Review daily and monthly surgery and endoscopy procedure logs to ensure all charges are accurate, complete, and properly posted. + Oversee charge capture processes for all Endo procedures across assigned regions. + Manage and work Endo workqueues in Epic, correcting discrepancies and finalizing charges. + Validate charges in collaboration with analysts, the charge capture team, and other support partners. + Ensure compliance with hospital billing fundamentals and charge capture guidelines. + Research and resolve charge variances by finding, filtering, and analyzing relevant clinical and financial information. + Maintain accountability for the integrity of surgical services patient accounts. Operational Support + Assist in managing and coordinating the Endo schedule to support smooth operations. + Provide month‑end coverage to ensure timely closure of all open charges and logs. + Communicate with leaders across endoscopy, surgery, and related departments to coordinate workflows and resolve issues. + Maintain documentation and audit trails to support internal and external reviews. + Support ongoing productivity, efficiency, and data integrity within surgical information systems. Collaboration & Communication + Partner with cross‑functional teams, clinical staff, and operational leaders across all regions. + Serve as a point of contact for questions related to Endo charge capture, logs, and Epic workflow issues. + Participate in meetings, process updates, and performance improvement initiatives. Education & Qualifications + Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. + Experience: Minimum three years business, surgical service or healthcare experience, required. + Additional Skills (required): + Understanding of hospital economics and financial reporting. Due to intense workload and staff interaction, it is important to have strong verbal and written communications skills, effective and appropriate customer service skills including conflict resolution. Must be able to work well with a variety of professionals, work independently with minimal direct supervision, work on multiple projects simultaneously while prioritizing based on need. Analytical and problem-solving skills, organization skills and attention to detail required. Strong computer skills such as Excel and other Microsoft applications. Must be able to secure and maintain private and confidential information. Ability to drive/travel to multiple facilities/locations as needed. Ability to meet deadlines. + Additional Skills (preferred): Interpersonal relationship skills, willingness to extend or shift hours as needed based on assignments. + Knowledge of endoscopy procedures, terminology, and workflows. + Strong medical terminology background. + Proficiency in Epic, specifically in surgical/endoscopy workqueues and charge workflows. + Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, data sorting/filtering). + Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills. + High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. + Ability to travel throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. + Experience with hospital charge capture, billing, or surgical information systems. + Understanding of hospital billing practices and Dimensions charge capture processes. + Prior experience in a supervisory or management role or leading workflow activities. + Experience working with endoscopy, surgery, or procedural clinical teams.
