Surgery Nursing Assistant

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Nursing Assistant, you will provide a variety of essential cleaning and support functions to maintain the surgical department and its equipment in a sanitary condition.

Every day you will perform critical sanitation tasks and offer indispensable support to ensure a sterile and safe environment for surgical procedures.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate meticulous attention to detail, a proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness, and a strong commitment to supporting the surgical team and patient safety through rigorous sanitation practices.

Assumes responsibility for the care of surgical instruments, sterile supplies and departmental equipment a.Cleans endoscopes and endoscope suppliesDemonstrates ability to correctly package (wrap, label, date) supplies for sterilization a.Endoscope washer/disinfectorAssumes responsibility for environmental services functions a.Changes trash and linen hampers, sharps buckets throughout department as necessary b.Cleans and readies OR gurneys c.Makes patient beds/gurneys as appropriate d.Cleans sinksMaintains and restocks departmental supplies and environmental services equipment a.Restocks all work room and sterile room supplies b.Restocks blanket warmers, sub sterile room suppliesPerforms clerical and task-oriented duties as assigned a.Transports patients safely b.Obtains blood from laboratory c.Transports lab specimensAssumes responsibility for the care of surgical instruments, sterile supplies and departmental equipment A.Assembles instrument sets and equipment trays according to instrument index B.Washes instruments quickly and thoroughly to provide for efficient turn around time C.Cleans endoscopes and endoscope supplies
