The Project
You will be assigned to brownfield offshore projects within a multi?project environment, involving complex SURF (Subsea, Umbilicals, Risers & Flowlines) activities executed on live offshore assets.
The role is part of a matrix organization managing projects from Basic Engineering through Start-Up and Hand-Over to Operations, with execution phases both onshore (Paris area) and offshore (Angola).
Within a technically demanding and safety-critical environment, you will contribute to:
Pre-commissioning readiness and execution of SURF systems Quality control surveillance during offshore activities Coordination with engineering, construction, installation, and commissioning teams Ensuring full compliance with project specifications, international standards, and HSE requirementsThis position offers exposure to high risk offshore brownfield projects, executed under SIMOPS conditions and involving multiple international contractors.
As a SURF Pre-Commissioning & QC Engineer, you will support the SURF Installation Manager and project team in preparing, monitoring, and validating all pre-commissioning and quality activities for subsea systems.
You will be responsible for ensuring that:
Pre?commissioning activities are properly prepared and documented Contractor execution complies with approved procedures, specifications, and safety rules Quality, schedule, and safety objectives are met during engineering, onshore preparation, and offshore execution phasesYou will work closely with contractors, installation teams, commissioning teams, and project stakeholders, both onshore and offshore.
Key Responsibilities Pre-Commissioning Engineering & Readiness Review and validate pre-commissioning procedures and technical documentation Ensure documentation readiness (as built, pre-commissioning dossiers, RFC status) Identify gaps, deviations, and unsafe or non?compliant design choices Support readiness for commissioning and handover to operations QC Surveillance & Contractor Follow-up Monitor and supervise contractor pre?commissioning activities Ensure compliance with project specifications, QA/QC plans, and ITPs Track anomalies, NCRs, and ensure proper corrective actions Verify proper equipment storage, preservation, and temporary installations Offshore Support (Angola) Witness and monitor offshore pre-commissioning activities Participate in contractor meetings (technical, progress, HSE, NCR resolution) Identify critical path activities and potential bottlenecks Report daily progress, issues, and risks to project management Coordination & Interfaces Interface with design teams to ensure pre?commissioning requirements are integrated early Liaise with construction, installation, and commissioning teams Participate in SIMOPS dossiers, HAZID, HAZOP, and project reviews Support Management of Change processes when required HSE & Quality Promote a strong safety culture and lead by example Apply and enforce H3SE rules and company Code of Conduct Ensure activities are executed without compromising safety, quality, or operational integrity Profile Experience Minimum 10 years of experience in similar pre-commissioning / QC roles At least 15 years of experience in Oil & Gas projects Strong background in SURF installation and pre-commissioning activities Proven experience in offshore brownfield projects and SIMOPS environments Education & Certifications Technical qualification (BTS / City & Guilds Technician or equivalent) Recognized apprenticeship or equivalent technical training BOSIET certification – mandatory Mandatory IT & Digital Tools ICAPS / OPERCOM (or equivalent commissioning & handover systems) Document Management Systems (DMS) for technical documentation and as?built tracking MS Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint (mandatory) Ability to review, comment, and validate contractor documentation via digital platforms Technical Skills Strong knowledge of international codes and standards related to fabrication, inspection, and pre-commissioning Solid experience in QC surveillance for umbilicals and flowline systems Good command of pre?commissioning methodologies and documentation Soft Skills Strong safety mindset and leadership by example Good communication and reporting skills Ability to work in multicultural and international project environments Structured, proactive, and solution?oriented Next Step Airswift’s multilingual team will support you throughout the recruitment process.
