This includes ensuring regulatory and safety requirements are met. Supervises staff, including work assignments, hiring/termination, performance reviews, orientation, and professional development. **Essential Functions of the Role** + Supervises the daily functions of the histopathology laboratory to ensure it runs efficiently. + Prepares schedules, coordinates job assignments, and monitors personnel including the selection, orientation, training, assignments, evaluations, discipline, and discharge of employees. + Oversees equipment maintenance records and schedules preventative maintenance for equipment including microscopes, microtones, strainers, ovens, and cryostats. + Assist with budgeting. Provide information about supplies, personnel, and equipment. Seek avenues of cost containment. Plan long-term purchases or capital equipment. + Develops, recommends, implements, and maintains policies and procedures related to the histopathology laboratory. + Ensures compliance with all safety standards established by OSHA and CAP. + Remains knowledgeable of trends in Histopathology through review of current literature and continuing education. + Performs all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA Director. **Key Success Factors** + Knowledge of laboratory regulations, protocols and procedures. + Statistical and critical thinking abilities. + Ability to comprehend and communicate instructions. + Ability to perform laboratory protocols and procedures. + Knowledge of safety and infection control standards. + Ability to work in a team environment. + Provides training and opportunities for continuing education. + Effective leadership and interpersonal skills. + Make tactical recommendations for allocating and directing supervised employees' work using established guidelines, policies, or procedures. + Ability to make effective hiring and termination recommendations. + Ability to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff. + General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email. **Belonging Statement** We believe that all people should feel welcomed, valued and supported. **QUALIFICATIONS** + EDUCATION - Associate's or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification + EXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience + CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - ASCP-Histotechnologist (ASCP-HTL) ASCP-Histotechnician (ASCP-HT): Must have one of the following: + ASCP-Histotechnician + ASCP-Histotechnologist.
