Today, 13.4 million people in Syria - more than half of the country's population - need humanitarian assistance with needs increasingly being exacerbated by economic decline. Of these, 6.8 million are refugees and asylum-seekers who have fled the country. This is no short-term humanitarian episode. The devastating human consequences to huge numbers of people will endure for decades. The destruction of relationships, communities, livelihoods, homes, and infrastructure will take years to repair. IRC is offering a robust humanitarian response to the Syria crisis a rapidly expanding portfolio, supported by more than 1000+ staff in Syria Country Program. IRC is undertaking programs in Syria and the neighboring countries of Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan in the fields of health, child protection, early childhood development, education, women’s protection and empowerment, non-food items and food distribution, cash assistance, water and sanitation, protection and rule of law, and livelihood programming. Our work in these challenging settings gives rise to some of the most pressing issues facing contemporary humanitarian action, including questions of access, security, funding, and coordination. Job Overview/Summary: As part of its Syria response the IRC is expanding its portfolio to provide specialized child protection (CP) services in Mahmudi Camp. The SAFE Facilitator will identify beneficiaries for the SAFE Program and implement all the sessions included in the relevant curriculum. The SAFE Program facilitator will also build relationships with the local community to ensure community acceptance. Position Objectives: + Identify beneficiaries of the SAFE Program. + Facilitate SAFE Program training sessions for Supporting Adolescents and their Families in Emergencies (SAFE) program. + Work closely with caseworkers from the case management program as part of their referral pathway. Responsibilities: + Work as part of a SAFE team to generate learning on implementing the SAFE approach. + Work as part of Child Protection in a safe space to provide support to adolescents as part of broader response services. + Participate in an initial SAFE approach training and engage in ongoing skills building using SAFE learning materials with the supervisor. + With support from supervisors, mentors, and coach’s adolescents of all genders. + Lead community engagement activities to introduce SAFE activities to children of all genders, community leaders and caregivers. + Work closely with other project staff to identify adolescents, and caregivers to participate in SAFE learning activities. + Act as a lead facilitator to deliver sessions twice a week for adolescents. + Facilitate sessions once a week for caregivers. + Facilitate feedback meetings with adolescents of all genders, community partners and caregivers, and share feedback with the supervisor. + Complete weekly reports on project activities, including documenting feedback from participants of SAFE sessions and proactively sharing back lessons learned whilst facilitating the curricula. + Participate in debriefing sessions with supervisors and share reflections, lessons learned, and recommendations to strengthen the SAFE program approach. + Prepare lesson plans and support curriculum adaptations. Reporting + Submit weekly program disaggregated data and indicator tracking reports to the Child Protection Officer. + Compile, edit, and write monthly program reports using the assigned templates. General Administration: + Follow up with the Child Protection Officer to ensure all required materials for the activities are available. + Other duties as requested by the CP Officer. Other: + All IRC staff are required to adhere toTHE IRC Way Standards for Professional Conductand the IRC country employment policies. + Other related duties as assigned by the supervisor. Key Working Relationships: + Position Reports to: Child Protection Officer + Position directly supervises: + Position provides technical support and mentorship on information management and M&E: Other Internal and/or external contacts: + Internal:Child Protection team; M&E Officer; MEAL team; WPE and PRoL Admin Officers Qualifications + At least an intermediate institute certificate with equivalent experience or a bachelor’s degree in degree in education, social work, human rights, or any other related degree. + Ab advocate for Child Rights, Child Protection, & Child Safeguarding. + At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role, working with adolescents and caregivers. + Experience in conducting psychosocial activities and learning sessions for children/adolescents. + Demonstrate understanding working in exciting situations. + Confirmed experience working with children and adolescents. + Experience with facilitation of group work with relevant populations. + At least one year experience working to support children, adolescents, women or parents and caregivers. + Experience of working with street and working children is preferable. + Familiar with working for an NGO/ humanitarian organization preferable. + Personal qualities: communicative, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well and work in a cross-cultural setting. + Ability to organize and manage data and always adhering to confidentiality and respect for clients is always essential. + Good communication and coordination skills + Good interpersonal skills, standout colleague and able to work independently. + Flexible and able to work in a dynamic and diverse environment. Staff Performance Management, Learning & Development + Attending and actively participating in all training sessions organized by the IRC – including taking pre/post-tests as instructed. + Accurately keep attendance records of beneficiaries at each session. + Complete observations or weekly reports as requested by supervisor. + Remain open to feedback from the Child Protection Leaders and IRC staff.
