Support Services Manager- Artemis Blackwater Mine

Position Overview:

The Manager in Training (MIT) will work under the guidance of senior camp leadership to develop the skills and experience necessary to manage all aspects of camp operations. This role is designed to prepare high-potential candidates for future leadership positions by providing hands-on exposure to the full spectrum of support services, including accommodations, facility maintenance, food services, retail services, health and safety, and strong customer service presence.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in managing day-to-day operations across multiple service areas including accommodations, food services, housekeeping, health and safety, facilities, facility maintenance and administrative functions. Coordinate and ensure smooth delivery of services to meet the needs of camp residents and clients. Liaise with on-site management and client representatives to ensure responsive and effective service delivery. Participate in quality audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives. Contribute to the development and refinement of operational policies, procedures, and performance metrics. Support the implementation and monitoring of health, safety, and environmental programs, including orientation, training, compliance, and incident reporting. Support staff scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management. Resolve customer concerns and contribute to a positive camp experience. Assist in budget preparation, cost control, and financial reporting. Prepare and submit internal and external reports as required. Engage in special projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Proficient with Microsoft Office products such as Teams, Excel, Word, SharePoint, OneNote, and OneDrive. Demonstrated leadership potential with strong communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Experience in team building, mentoring, and working in cross-cultural environments. A focus on service excellence, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction. Willingness to work in a rotational camp-based environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in Hotel/Accommodation/Customer Service Management or a related field. Experience working in a remote environment, accommodation, or camp services industry. Comfortable using tablet-based apps; experience with retail POS systems or accommodation systems. Preference will be given to Indigenous candidates.

Development Focus:

This role is structured to provide mentorship, rotational exposure across departments, and progressive responsibility. The MIT will be evaluated on leadership growth, operational knowledge, and readiness for promotion into a full managerial role.

This role will be on the management team representing ATCO Frontec and the voice of our partners in the Lhoosk’uz Dené and Ulkatcho First Nations.
