This role is based in an office and warehouse facility in Elgin, IL, providing exposure to both administrative and operational aspects of the business. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., offering a consistent daytime work pattern. Job Description
The Support Associate provides end-to-end service to consumables customers, managing interactions from initial inquiry through order delivery. The primary objective is to re-engage and reactivate lapsed and former customers, guiding them back to regular buying patterns through outbound calls, emails, and cold calling. This role supports a portfolio of over 4,000 products and requires a strong customer-oriented mindset, attention to detail, and a commitment to supporting organizational growth. The Support Associate responds to customer inquiries, performs inventory lookups, processes quotes and orders, supports logistics, and maintains accurate customer and transaction records.
Responsibilities
Re-engage and reactivate former and lapsed customers through outbound calls, emails, and cold calls to restore regular buying patterns.Provide responsive and professional service to consumables customers from initial inquiry through order delivery.Handle a broad portfolio of over 4,000 products, offering accurate information and guidance to customers.Respond promptly to customer inquiries regarding products, pricing, availability, and order status.Perform inventory lookups to confirm product availability and provide accurate information to customers.Prepare and process quotes and sales orders in a timely and accurate manner.Support material pricing activities, ensuring correct pricing is applied to quotes and orders.Coordinate with logistics to support order fulfillment, shipping arrangements, and delivery timelines.Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer information and transaction documentation in relevant systems and databases.Maintain regular contact with assigned customers to strengthen relationships and encourage repeat business.Perform routine administrative tasks, including preparing paperwork and maintaining transaction records.Apply knowledge of postal and commercial shipping methods when supporting shipping and logistics activities.Use good judgment and rational decision-making when handling customer issues and resolving problems.Remain calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks and customer requests simultaneously.Adhere to quality and safety standards in all aspects of order processing and customer service.Collaborate with team members in the office and warehouse environment to ensure smooth operations and excellent customer service.Essential Skills
Demonstrated sales or sales support experience focused on bringing lost customers back to regular buying patterns.Customer service experience with a friendly, persuasive, and professional approach.Inside sales or telesales experience, including cold calling and reactivating lost or former customers.Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to build positive customer relationships.Basic PC and keyboard skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.Experience using SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems.Ability to perform simple arithmetic for pricing, quotes, and order calculations.Experience with inventory lookup, quote and order processing, material pricing, and logistics support.Ability to prepare routine paperwork and maintain accurate transaction documentation.Ability to maintain regular customer contact and update databases consistently.Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle multiple tasks at the same time.Strong customer service orientation with a focus on quality and safety standards.Sound judgment and rational decision-making when addressing customer needs and issues.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Knowledge of postal and commercial shipping methods is preferred.Experience working in an inside sales, outbound calling, or customer support environment.Comfort working with a large and diverse product portfolio, such as consumables with thousands of SKUs.Motivation to work in a role that offers potential access to bonus and commission opportunities upon conversion to full-time employment.Interest in contributing to the growth and expansion of an organization through proactive customer engagement.Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.25 - $31.25/hr.
