Job Title: Supply Chain Specialist
Job Description
The Supply Chain Specialist reviews and manages material requests to support the operational needs of distribution, transmission, or generation business units. This role coordinates closely with Supply Chain Operations, Expediting, and Procurement to ensure materials are available for construction and maintenance activities, while monitoring inventory, optimizing sourcing decisions, and supporting continuous improvement in materials management processes. The position works under supervision and plays a key role in aligning material availability with project and maintenance schedules.
Responsibilities
Review material requests and assist colleagues in evaluating material requirements to determine the most cost-effective way to fulfill orders from suppliers or inventory across the service territory.Monitor open material requests and purchase orders to proactively identify items that require expediting or alternate sourcing to meet project timelines.Monitor daily inventory reports for exceptions and take appropriate action to resolve issues and maintain optimal inventory levels.Train others on the Materials Management system as needed for the facilities and business units supported.Serve as a liaison between the business unit and the central Materials Management team by providing feedback on the implementation and performance of inventory management strategies.Review Materials Management processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and service levels.Monitor performance measures and metrics related to supply chain and materials management, and take corrective actions to ensure Supply Chain and Business Unit goals are achieved.Coordinate and execute purchases for emergent materials identified during the T-Week scheduling process for nuclear plant operations, where applicable.Prepare and report on Procurement Engineering Receipt Inspection activities and manage material holds for nuclear plant operations, where applicable.Actively promote and support Accident Prevention and Safety and Health programs in all supply chain and materials management activities.Provide 24-hour availability, as required, to assist with emergency material needs for service restoration or planned and unplanned outages.Perform accurate data entry related to material requests, purchase orders, and inventory records.Travel as needed to distribution centers, project sites, or other facilities to support materials management and supply chain activities.Essential Skills
Minimum of two years of experience in supply chain or applicable business experience, including satisfactory work experience in a Material Coordinator Associate or similar position.Strong knowledge of supply chain management, purchasing, procurement, and logistics processes.Ability to review and analyze material requests and inventory data to make cost-effective sourcing decisions.Proficiency with enterprise systems such as SAP for materials management, purchasing, and inventory control.Accurate and efficient data entry skills for managing purchase orders and inventory records.Good oral and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with Supply Chain Operations, Expediting, Procurement, and business unit teams.Ability to monitor and interpret supply chain metrics and take corrective actions to achieve performance goals.Capability to train others on Materials Management systems and processes.Willingness and ability to be available around the clock, as needed, to support emergency material requirements for outages and service restoration.Ability to support and promote safety and health programs within supply chain and materials management operations.Capacity to perform sedentary work, consistent with the physical demands of the role.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field; orAssociate’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field with at least two years of applicable experience; orHigh School Diploma or GED with at least four years of applicable experience in supply chain or a related business area.Experience working in a utility, distribution, transmission, generation, or industrial environment is beneficial.Familiarity with Procurement Engineering Receipt Inspection and material hold processes, particularly in nuclear plant or highly regulated environments, is a plus.Experience serving as a liaison between business units and centralized supply chain or materials management teams.Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in materials management.Willingness to travel when necessary to support supply chain operations and business unit needs.Work Environment
This position operates primarily in an onsite environment at a distribution center, working closely with operations, supply chain, and materials management teams. The schedule typically runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with overtime as needed to meet business and emergency demands. Work is generally sedentary and computer-based, involving extensive use of materials management systems such as SAP, as well as standard office software and communication tools. The role may require occasional travel to other facilities or sites and includes participation in support for planned and unplanned outages, which can require availability outside standard business hours. The work environment emphasizes safety, reliability, and collaboration, with a strong focus on supporting service restoration and continuous improvement in supply chain performance.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pataskala, OH.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $31.65 - $33.65/hr.
