Supplier Quality Engineer I
**Job Description** The successful candidate for this quality engineering position will leverage your abilities to improve the quality and delivery of supplied products. You will resolve delivery issues, issue and manage supplier corrective actions, continue the progression of supply base expertise and supplier process understanding. You will need to be a self-starter who has a thirst for knowledge, a desire to learn, and improve systems and products. This is a visible position to the organization and plays an important part at BAE Systems and in the Aerospace and Defense industry! This is an entry-level position, and training will be provided where experience may not be present. In this position, you are the resource responsible for the technical supplier performance relationship at the front end of the Integrated Supply Chain where production material is sourced, where it enters the product realization process, and upon where the company relies to ensure compliant parts are delivered on time. You will be a part of BAE System s procurement risk management that enables our competitive edge and reduces the risk to programs, our customers, and the warfighter. The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management. **What You ll Do:** + Manage and develop suppliers with a focus on Mechanical components and assemblies, and associated special processes (plating, heat treat, welding, painting, non-destruct test, etc.). + Become the subject matter expert in mechanical components and all aspects of manufacture / process. + Investigate and troubleshoot nonconformance concerns - identify and mitigate manufacturing, material, and process issues and associated risks. + Proficiently utilize electronic manufacturing information systems including the Quality Management System (QMS), Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) system, Product Data Management (PDM) system, and other various databases that control and monitor supplier performance. + Perform supply chain quality engineering functions including supplier evaluations, on-site system assessments, product realization capability and capacity reviews, and supplier corrective actions (SCARs). + Use your understanding of technical specifications and supplier manufacturing processes to troubleshoot and resolve supplier fault issues. + Assess supplier risk and facilitate improvements in counterfeit part prevention in the supply chain, support and work cross-functionally with engineering, supply management, inspection and production for all phases, systems, programs and or products from less complicated, single focus activities to extremely complex and highly diverse activities + Assess supplier cybersecurity systems, risk management, and root cause and corrective action processes. + Work collaboratively with Supply Chain and Engineering on strategic sourcing teams to improve sourcing decisions, improve the supply base and selection of available suppliers, and affect improvements when necessary. + Review drawings, procedures and engineering orders for completeness and suggest improvements to ensure supplier success. + Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. + Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. + Perform other duties as necessary. **On-Site Work Environment:** This position requires regular in-person engagement by working **on-site three or more days** each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required. **Working Conditions:** + Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment. + May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required. + May access other facilities in various weather conditions. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required. + Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education. + An understanding of supply chain quality engineering and/or hardware quality engineering. Experience in other areas will be considered as long as there is a supplier and/or quality component. + A working knowledge of ISO9001 and AS9100 requirements. + A working understanding with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, OASIS, Costpoint, and advanced Microsoft Excel. + An understanding in performing on-site quality system assessments and evaluating suppliers' ability to produce the needed products, processes or services. Consideration will be given to internal audit experience in lieu of supplier system assessments. \#LI-JL2 A security clearance or access with Polygraph is not required to be eligible for this position. However, the applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access. **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + A working knowledge of mechanical part / assembly manufacturing and associated special processes. + Proficiency with SharePoint, OASIS, Costpoint, and advanced Microsoft Excel. + Experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry. + Experience with Statistical Process Control, LEAN, and Six Sigma. + ASQ Certifications such as Certified Supplier Quality Professional, Certified Manager of Quality/ Organizational Excellence, Certified Quality Engineer, or Certified Six Sigma Green/Black Belt. **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $64926 - $110374 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
