Position Summary
The Supplier Development Engineer will assist in monitoring suppliers’ performance against contractual obligations, scorecards and key performance indicators. In coordination with Supplier Quality, they will facilitate continuous improvements initiatives and problem resolution for suppliers’ failure to meet performance expectations. Position will directly report to the Division Supplier Development Manager.
Essential Functions
• Conduct onsite supplier audits to evaluate supplier health and business risk.
Conduct evaluation of supplier’s process capability, capacity, delivery performance, output, and reporting of supplier performance.
• Support strategic sourcing department with the execution of work transfers including supplier evaluation/selection, review and completion of the work transfer stage gates.
Qualifications
• Bachelor degree (required) in business, engineering, or materials management
• Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience working in an engineering, continuous improvement, or program management role
• Possess analytical and technical skills required to understand business practices
• Must have advanced computer skills and proficiency at Microsoft software suite
• Must be an innovator and embrace lean enterprises principles and practices
Key Skills
• Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs.
• Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
• Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.
• Quality Orientation: Knowledge of quality management methods, tools, and techniques.
• Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
• Supplier Evaluations and Certification: Knowledge of supplier evaluations and certification; ability to identify the methods, tools and documentation for evaluating, selecting and certifying vendors, suppliers and partners.
