The Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) will report to the Division Supplier Development Manager. This is a “hands on” role and the SDE will aid in resolving chronic shortages, be a liaison between the supplier and internal groups and be involved in projects to improve delivery, quality and cost performance within the Supply Chain in order to provide benefit to the Braking Systems Division (BSD). The Supplier Development activities are focused on product and process performance for all production including new programs and current production providing the link between Quality, Engineering, Procurement and Supplier. The SDE will assist in the day-to-day project execution and coordination at the supplier as needed and will utilize expertise in Engineering, Purchasing and Operations. Supplier visits and audits will be standard work for the SDE to ensure continuous improvement of supplier operations and containment of situations that will impact Braking Systems Division’s ability to support our customers with 100% on-time delivery. Knowledge and experience in Purchasing, Design, Manufacturing Operations and experience in Quality core tools for zero defects is highly preferred (e.g., Lean manufacturing Techniques, APQP, PFMEA, DFMEA, 8D, SPC, MSA, CP, etc.). **This position will be based in Akron, Ohio Essential Functions • Participate in activities that improve the velocity of transfer of work from an incumbent to new supplier • Conduct and review Production Readiness and Risk Assessments (PRA) onsite at the supplier and provide improvement opportunities that helps to develop the partnership with BSD. • Represent BSD and collaborate with other BSD disciplines to monitor and improve supplier performance (OTD, Zero Defects) • Bring suppliers online to the Zero Defects Plan (ZDP) which includes APQP activity and PPAP elements (i.e., PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, PFD) • Manage and lead supplier continuous improvement proposals • Assist in the completion of flawless new product introduction • Recognize supplier performance trends and identify areas for improvement to mitigate risk; manage and provide input to supplier recovery roadmap as needed • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of time Qualifications • Bachelor degree required in Engineering or other related discipline • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience; 8 or more years preferred • Working knowledge of process improvement and zero defect tools (i.e. DFMEA, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, PPAP, APQP, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, TAKT, 5Why, 8D, etc.) • Understanding of various processes in a manufacturing setting related to Planning/Scheduling, workflow, bottlenecks, etc. • Demonstrable knowledge of Supplier Quality and Supply Chain Improvement and be capable of implementing current Supply Chain techniques • Highly organized and excellent interpersonal skills with ability to work on multi-functional teams Project Management, problem solving/resolution tools and techniques, all within an aerospace or automotive environment • Conversant with Microsoft Office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) • PPAP experience including FAI • Knowledge of statistical techniques is an advantage • Working knowledge of Aerospace regulations and requirements preferred (Automotive Industry standards and regulations are an acceptable alternative) Drug-Free Workplace In accordance with Parker’s policies and applicable state laws, Parker provides for a drug-free workplace.
