Summary You will serve as a Supervisory Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHE) Office of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Division in the Hazard Deficiency Program Management and Analysis Branch Head located in the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Division (Code 106.2) at the NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will plan, coordinate, manage and staff for a comprehensive branch safety program designed to prevent injuries, accidents, and loss to all shipyard personnel and property. You will prepare Indepth analyses, reports and correspondence for use by the shipyard management regarding OSH technical matters and inspection results. You will implement and oversee an employees hazard Reporting Program. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: - Experience providing planning, coordination, management and staffing for a comprehensive branch safety program designed to prevent injuries, accidents and loss to all personnel and property. - Experience planning, coordinating and conducting safety and health inspections and receives and investigates employee complaints of unsafe working conditions. - Experience documenting the results of investigations and inspections in writing and prepares in-depth analyses, reports and correspondence for use by management, the OSHE Director. - Experience coordinating and maintaining a mishap prevention program that includes investigation and reporting of mishaps, development of mishaps and injury statistics, evaluation of mishap trends and recommendation of corrective and improvement actions and mishap prevention planning. - Experience monitoring workplaces and conditions for the control of personnel exposure to health and environmental hazards in accordance with OSHE requirements. - Experience planning and assigning work and projects to staff based on long-term priorities with required completion dates for some of the work and projects and take into consideration the abilities of the employees and the type and amount of work in progress and training needs of each employee and group.
