SUPERVISORY POLICE OFFICER (KENNEL MASTER)
Summary You will serve as a Supervisory Police Officer (Kennel Master) in the Provost Marshal Office of MCLB ALBANY GA. Responsibilities You will serve as the supervisor or the Working Dog and Military Working Dog (WD/MWD) section responsible for planning directing, training and managing the operations. You will supervise all subordinate military or civilian WD/MWD handlers on assigned and rotation shifts that routinely deploy. You will develop schedules, coordinates, maintain and lead the WD/MWD training and utilization program to ensure all WD/MWD teams are properly trained and used in all phases of WD/MWD, to include inspections, investigations and law enforcement. You will train WD/MWD handlers in the role of WDs/MWDs in the use of force. You will train WD/MWD handlers as agitators/helpers and ensures all training exercises are conducted as safely as possible. You will assign work to WD/MWD handlers based on priorities, selective consideration of difficulty and requirements of assignments, and the capabilities of the WD/MWD Handlers. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Planning, directing, training, and managing police officer and Working Dog Handler operations; establishing Working Dog training, procedures, maintenance, and grooming standards to ensure proper Working Dog care and Kennel Facility upkeep; and performing inspection and investigating work to effect compliance of individuals with laws, rules, and regulations in the protection of life, property, and the civil rights of citizens. Addition Condition of Employment: Must be a graduate or attend the first available school of the Military Working Dog Kennel Masters Course at Lackland AFB, TX. Incumbent must pass a sanctioned job compatibility/psychological examination. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. This is a Department of Navy drug testing designated position. Must maintain program height and weight appearance standards. Must be able to use all police equipment, certify in the use of radar detection and alcohol detection equipment, field sobriety test, expandable or collapsible baton and obtain other certifications required to accomplish the duties of a law enforcement officer. Must meet medical standards for Police Officers in DoD 6055.85M and NMCPHC-TM-OM 6260. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This is a Mission Essential Position. Incumbent must carry firearm. Must be 18 years of age. Education Additional Information Must have a spleen. Required to wear uniform and maintain appearance and grooming standards per Marine Corps Orders/Policies. Must have successfully completed and accredited WD/MWD course. Incumbent must be able to read, write and speak English. This position is subject to shift work. Overtime may be required.
