Supervisor - Radiology/Medical Imaging

GENERAL SUMMARY:
Responsible for supervising and coordinating all activities within assigned area (s) of Radiology / Medical Imaging. The scope may include multiple sites and/or modalities. Supervises assigned staff and activities to ensure efficient, effective, timely, operations and the delivery of imaging services. Establishes priorities, assigns work, and monitors performance, quality, and workflow processes.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Interviews, hires, orients, trains, coaches, and when necessary disciplines employees within assigned area.
• Evaluates competency, coordinates appropriate in-services. Serves as a technical resource and assists in the resolution of complex problems when necessary.
• Assists in the development, revision, and implementation of departmental goals, policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with State and Federal statues, accrediting agencies, and other regulatory guidelines Resolves issues as needed.
• Oversees maintenance and updating of various records, logs, databases to ensure accurate and complete data is recorded. Periodic audits, reporting of variances, may be needed. May prepare a variety of, reoccurring and /or special reports; including statistical, regulatory metrics and or budgetary analysis.
• Oversees other administrative functions including supply ordering, scheduling, overtime administration, etc. Ensures that equipment and other work areas are maintained in a clean and orderly condition including arranging for maintenance and repair as necessary.
• Assesses personnel levels to maintain appropriate workflows.
• Performs quality control/assurance activities and may lead process improvement activities in their area of expertise.
• Responds to all QA/RL/Patient complaints and resolve and document as appropriate. Oversees all safety activities within their area of responsibility
• Represents the Department in institutional activities as requested.
• Demonstrates leadership in “Each Patient First” behaviors.
• May perform imaging procedures in the assigned area of responsibility.
• If responsible for multiple areas, will meet competency requirements in at least one of the assigned areas.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
• High school diploma or G.E.D equivalent required
• Current certification in a Radiologic Technologist or Radiologic Science area required o If responsible for multiple areas/modalities, must be certified in at least one area of responsibility
• Multiple certifications preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Radiology required in order to gain full knowledge of tests and procedures, and work of radiology personnel
• Must maintain the required hours of continued education
• Must maintain Healthcare Provider certification (BCLS)
• Bachelor's Degree in a health related field is preferred
• Two years of supervisory experience preferred
