Job Summary

The Polysomnography Technologist Supervisor gathers and examines data for sleep studies. They also supervise and train other staff in Polysomnography.

Essential Functions of the Role

Supervises the daily functions of the Sleep Laboratory effectively and professionally. This includes preparing schedules, making job assignments, monitoring personnel, and maintaining records according to policies.Ensures that the department and staff members adhere to department policies and procedures.Assists in all budgeting responsibilities within the Sleep Laboratory.Participates in the planning, design and execution of all clinical and research daytime and nighttime polysomnography studies.Coordinate data handling, data reduction, and necessary forms for special studies. Ensure all relevant equipment functions properly before the study starts.Prepare relevant equipment and review the patient's medical record before arrival. Ensure everything is set up appropriately for the patient.Greet the patient and family. Explain the test procedures. Answer any questions. Attend to any patient needs professionally.Applies monitoring equipment to the patient appropriately and professionally. Performs baseline measurement before the study begins. Ensures the equipment functions properly and will produce high-quality results.Start and end the study at the designated times. Properly record the necessary patient information at the right times during the study.Score the sleep recordings within the same week of completion. Identify the stages of sleep. Consistently and accurately identify tracings that indicate a sleep disorder.

Key Success Factors

Advanced knowledge of Polysomnographic Care modalities, therapies, equipment and medications.Make tactical conclusions about allocating and directing supervised employees' work using established guidelines, policies, or procedures.Ability to make effective hiring and termination recommendations.Ability to train, and evaluate performance of supervised staff.General computer skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED EquivalentEXPERIENCE - 3 Years of ExperienceCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -

 Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS in 30 days of hire or transfer.

Reg Polysomnographic Tech (RPSGT), Registered Sleep Tech (RST): Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) from the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) or Registered Sleep Technologist from the American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) required.
