Short Description

Coordinates with the Director of Maintenance; acts as the direct supervisor of department personnel on a daily basis and ensures directives from the Director are implemented as required.

Ensures employee performance meets or exceeds expectations and that performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner.

Assesses conditions and diagnoses technical and mechanical issues.

Leads staff during projects and repairs, including carpentry, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing work.

Oversees maintenance and beautification of the facility and grounds.

Oversees safety programs and preventative maintenance initiatives.

Coordinates and oversees the activities of outside contractors and tradespeople involved in construction, repair, and maintenance of the physical plant and equipment.

Inspects work to ensure it meets code requirements and established specifications.

Addresses and resolves staff concerns or grievances related to facilities and working conditions under their supervision.

Maintains time and cost records; schedules vacation, relief, and emergency coverage; and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements (Joint Commission, NJDOH, local agencies, etc.).

Participates in a rotating on-call schedule as required.

Performs additional duties as assigned to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the campus.

Assists in directing the work of mechanics, facility staff, trade helpers, and other skilled trades as needed.

Ensures work orders are completed in a manner that meets or exceeds customer expectations.

Educates staff on effective communication to ensure customer satisfaction with work execution and timelines.

Monitors equipment status and makes recommendations for the capital budgeting process.

  Experience Required

7 Years experience hospital or institutional maintenance

 

3 Years Supervisory experience - preferred
