Summary:
Supports billing for Prosthetics & Orthotics Department, including monitoring charges and denials and partnering with finance to ensure accurate billing and reduced missed charges. Provides administrative oversight for department.
Responsibilities:
1. Provides supervision and direction for administrative and support teammates. Manages interview, hiring, and onboarding process. Establishes clear communication and expectations for daily work, performance, and improvement opportunities.
2. Monitors all P&O charges and denials to achieve operational efficiency, revenue optimization and minimize missed charging opportunities across the department.
3. Troubleshoots problem claims, gathers additional information and/or makes corrections for billing.
4. Serves as a liaison with finance to ensure all billing is appropriately entered and processed.
5. Monitors charges to ensure correct visit information, charge levels and CPT codes are used for billing.
6. Reviews denials and appeals patterns for trends. Provides information to leadership regarding patterns or trends associated with appeals. Collaborates with leadership and finance for problem-solving and the prevention of pending denials.
7. Educates and orients P&O teammates to the charging process and documentation standards for the department.
8. Provides support to Patient Financial Services to assist with billing issues and patient inquiries.
9. Assists leadership with the administration of department budget, and prepares fiscal reports.
10. May supervise administrative duties of other teammates to include selection, training, evaluating, and counseling as delegated.
11. Performs departmental or program purchasing administrative functions to include researching and recommending supplies and equipment to the supervisor, expediting purchase orders and requisitions, and approving operational expenditures.
12. Prepares complex forms, reports, presentations, and other documents requiring a higher level of proficiency with software. Creates, proofreads, or edits correspondence and documents for internal and external circulation.
**Other Information**
**Education Requirements:**
● Associate’s degree in related administrative, financial or billing field.
**Licensure/Certification Requirements:**
● None required.
**Professional Experience Requirements:**
● At least three (3) years of experience with high level administrative responsibility.
● At least six (6) months experience in P&O department to be familiar with billing and charges strongly preferred.
