Purpose of the Role
The purpose of the Store Supervisor is to take responsibility for and be accountable for the comprehensive management of inventory and the procurement of materials essential for the efficient maintenance and operation of the Network Rail-owned rail grinding fleet based at Rugby. This role supports the Maintenance Manager in monitoring, developing, and managing the supplier base to ensure that operations meet requirements for safety, quality, cost, and delivery. By maintaining rigorous oversight of inventory processes and supply chain activities, the Store Supervisor significantly enhances the overall reliability and effectiveness of the rail grinding fleet.

Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
Lead a small stores team, ensuring sufficient staffing and training for key activities. Carry out stock checks and maintain accurate stock levels and BIN numbers and ensure this is recorded correctly against audit criteria. Oversee the repairable float and update supplier reorder details in the relevant system. Ensure stock is stored correctly and safely Manage warranties and rejections alongside the engineers Coordinate material requisitions and transport for rail grinding machine shipments, optimizing procedures for efficiency. Support rail grinding fleet maintenance by coordinating overhauled equipment. Reduce waste in picking time by optimizing procedures, store layout, and staff utilization Negotiate with suppliers and monitor performance against KPIs, assisting in the supplier accreditation process. Identify initiatives to improve supplier performance and reduce costs. Inspect and process deliveries robustly Maintain accurate warehouse documentation for audits and ensure compliance with ISO standards. Uphold high safety standards, participate in safety initiatives, and wear appropriate personal protective equipment Follow all of Colas Rail’s Lifesaving Rules, policies and procedures Attend safety briefs and disseminate when required, complete close calls and safety conversations. Collaborate with finance to ensure budget targets are met. As you will expect the organisation may change from time to time and you will be expected to meet the operational requirements.
