As a Security Dispatch Supervisor in our Command Center located in Mesa (Country Club and Brown Road), you will have direct reports that will need to be supported through coaching as well as record keeping (Timecard, Attendance, Training, etc.) and will have higher interaction with the hospital administration. This team is responsible for coordinating all emergency and non-emergency responses for all assigned sites where security personnel and/or security systems are located. You will ensure the team is supported while department operations run smoothly!

Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 2:00pm-10:30pm

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operation of the security central dispatch function; is responsible for receiving incoming phone, radio and multiple alarm system inputs, while at the same time handling requests for service or assistance. Coordinates all emergent and non-emergent responses for all assigned sites where security personnel and/or security systems are located. Coordinates and prepares written documentation on all communications, both verbal and electronic. Prepares and assists in analyzing all monthly and quarterly management reports.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Keeps current on multiple alarm system computer operations and software updates. Trains staff and determines competency on changes in software programs and updates. Monitors and responds to the Central Station Computer, which receives all robbery, burglary, fire and medical alert alarms, dispatching fire, police, ambulance and security. Is responsible for adding all new account information.

2. Maintains software for system-wide access system. Maintains current software, alarm point inputs and system override procedures.

3. Oversees dispatch of emergent and non-emergent security traffic for assigned areas. Ensures monitoring of all emergency phones, including parking lot call boxes, elevators and after hours telephones in all assigned locations. Oversees monitoring of security cameras in assigned locations.

4. Organizes, directs, staffs, coordinates and schedules the work activities of department; maintains current education and training records of staff; assists with writing department policies and procedures, especially those dealing with the dispatching function and communication. Follows instructions and safety procedures to help ensure that a safe environment is maintained.

5. Assists and oversees the orienting of all new full time and temporary staff, ensuring competencies are met; assists with the initial investigation into employee performance issues and works with the department manager to implement positive solutions. Completes and documents performance evaluations for staff; works with staff on action plans to improve work performance. Acts as a role model, mentor and leader.
 

6. Proficient in ability to assess and prioritize emergency situations as they arise and coordinate requested resources to handle any situation. Mentors and directs others towards independence in making decisions based on severity of situation. Internal customers include all employees, patients and family, physicians. External customers include campus visitors, vendors and law enforcement agency representatives.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.

One year of successful supervisory or lead experience is required. Two years previous dispatching experience with an excellent working knowledge of radio communication equipment. Must have the ability to exercise good independent judgment and successfully function and prioritize tasks during emergency situations. Effective human relation skills are required for interfacing with all levels of staff, clients, physicians and other professional contacts. Must be able to work under minimal supervision, possess good self-motivational and organization skills, and compile quality statistical reports. Must be able to communicate effectively. Basic mathematical skills are required.

Excellent computer skills are required.
