Summary :The Supervisor, Pharmacy Distribution serves as the pharmacy system resource and leader for: sterile compounding, central pharmacy operations or medication histories. The Supervisor, Pharmacy Distribution oversees the day-to-day operations for the safe, accurate receipt, storage, preparation, and delivery of medications. Organizes and supervises the workflow, oversees schedules, and reallocates team members and resources based on patient census and acuity (business need). Ensures team members are in compliance with state and federal regulations, and that department/system policies and procedures are being followed. Promotes and strengthens team member engagement, process improvement initiatives, patient satisfaction, and safety. Maintains and enhances interpersonal relationships with medical staff, team members, patients, and visitors.Job Description:This position will oversee all of the CAHs (Berlin, New London, Shawano, Waupaca, Wild Rose).
Key Accountabilities:
Applies up to date knowledge on their leadership area of Sterile compounding, Central operations or medication histories to ensure that the system Pharmacy operations are in compliance with regulations and operating efficiently.
Is expected to maintain specialized knowledge to their particular area and serve as the subject matter expert including providing gap analysis recommendations to System pharmacy.
Ensures the daily operational needs of the pharmacy are met.
Oversees team member relations such as hires, transfers, performance management, time and attendance management, and payroll where applicable.
Regularly audits and coaches team member performance as it relates to pharmacy workflows, policies, and regulatory compliance.
Maintains established procedures for quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
Ensures compliance with legal, safety, and security requirements for the practice of medication receipt, storage, preparation, and distribution.
Serves as a liaison among providers, pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians to ensure high quality, accurate, expedient, and complete pharmacy services with regard to receipt, storage, preparation, and distribution of medication.
Oversees the monitoring, removal, and storage of all expired, formulary deletions, and recalled medications from inventory and stored in the appropriate area.
Contributes to optimization initiatives to enhance safety, workflow, and inventory management using effective change management principles to achieve high reliability outcomes.
Coordinates and oversees activities associated with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM) including any quality assurance activities required to meet the needs of the customer, coordinates delivery of new or replaced units, coordinates activities associated with software updates, and resolves software issues.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Two years of experience as a healthcare organization pharmacy technician
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board certification (CPhT)
Registered Pharmacy Technician with the State of Wisconsin
When applicable, training certificate, in assigned leadership area of sterile compounding, central pharmacy operations or medication histories, within one year of hire
Physical Demands:
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance
Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties.
Work Environment:
Normally works in climate controlled office environment
Frequent sitting with movement throughout office space
Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents
Use of computers throughout the work day
Frequent use of keyboard with repetitive motion of hands, wrists, and fingers
