Job SummaryThe Supervisor Clinical Document Improvement (CDI) will oversee a specific division, reporting directly to the CDI Director. The supervisor will handle daily planning, work scheduling, and operations of the CDI program.
Essential Functions of the RoleOversees the planning, organization, and coordination of day-to-day operations.Solves problems and makes judgments with support of manager.Delegates work based on prioritization work list.Trains new staff on current workflow and systems as part of onboarding program.Ensures staff quality meets production and process standards. Creates performance improvement plans for staff not meeting standards.Participates in interviewing, hiring, and performance evaluation of staff based on job description.Reviews charts on a weekly basis.Complies and stays abreast of new regulations and coding guidelines.Responsible for physician/clinical documentation education on an as-needed basis.Performs other position-appropriate duties as required in a competent, professional, and courteous manner.Key Success FactorsMust be a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).Requires one of these certifications: Cert Cln Documentation Spec (CCDOSCP), Cert Cln Doc Spec Outpatient (CCDS-O), Cert Coding Specialist (CCS), Cert Doc Improv Practitioner (CDIP), or Cert Professional Coder (CPC).Clinical knowledge of disease process. Medical Record Review skills.Oral and written communication skills, one to one with providers.Know ICD-10, Complications/Comorbid Conditions, and how each sets the final Diagnosis Related Group, Severity of Illness, and Risk of Mortality.Knowledge of medical terminology, A&P and pharmacology drug names.Proficient in MS Office Suite.Ability to identify problems and implement solutions for any operational needs.Leadership skills to direct and assign work to staff.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Effective communication skills to explain policies and procedures.Belonging StatementWe believe that all people should feel welcomed, valued and supported.
