ABOUT US DMHAS is a health care agency whose mission is to promote the overall health and wellness of persons with behavioral health needs through an integrated network of holistic, comprehensive, effective, and efficient services and supports that foster dignity, respect, and self-sufficiency in those we serve. MORE ABOUT THE FACILITY AND UNIT: With three locations throughout Fairfield County, SWCMHS, promotes and administers comprehensive recovery oriented services in the areas of mental health treatment and substance abuse prevention and treatment. These services include inpatient treatment programs and outpatient clinical services, as well as a wide range of additional supportive treatment services. The Diagnostic and Evaluation Center (DEC) provides a full range of assessments to determine an individual’s needs and makes recommendations for appropriate follow-up care. The DEC provides short-term treatment services while a referral is processed to either a treatment team within the Southwest Connecticut Mental Health System or to a community provider. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE Seven (7) years of professional health care experience in a psychiatric setting. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been at a lead level responsible for coordinating the work of a unit or team of professionals in a psychiatric setting. NOTE: For state employees this experience is interpreted at the level of an Advanced Clinical Social Worker for social work discipline, Head Nurse for the nursing discipline, an Advanced Professional Counselor and an Advanced Marital and Family Therapist. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED + College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree. + A Master's Degree in a health care field related to one of the disciplines in the Special Experience may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS + Bilingual in Spanish and English. + Experience as a supervisor in behavioral health or psychiatric settings. + Experience with psychiatric admission protocols and relevant regulatory standards. + Experience fostering inclusive, supportive team environments informed by co-occurring substance use disorders along with trauma-informed principles. + Experience with EMR systems and behavioral health documentation workflows. + Experience with crisis response and high-stakes decision-making while in an outpatient mental health setting. + Experience conducting performance evaluations and mentoring clinical staff. + Experience providing communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities across multidisciplinary teams. + Experience with behavioral health policy, ethics, and outpatient service delivery models. + Experience utilizing clinical data analytics and outcome metrics to enhance practice and inform program development. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS + Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a current license as a Clinical Social Worker, a licensed Marital and Family Therapist, a licensed Professional Counselor, or as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut. The license required for direct supervision of clinical oversight will be dictated by the functions of the assigned unit or program. + Incumbents in this class may be required to possess certification as a clinical supervisor by the Connecticut Certification Board. + Incumbents in this class may be required to be bilingual or fluent in American Sign Language. + Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
