Superstructure Resident Engineer

As a Superstructure Resident Engineer in Houston, you’ll play a key role in overseeing the construction of complex bridge and transportation projects, ensuring safety, quality, and innovation every step of the way. What You’ll Do In this leadership role, you’ll be the on-site authority guiding construction teams and ensuring project success. Your responsibilities will include: * Leading and mentoring a team of site inspectors and support staff * Monitoring construction progress and advising on corrective actions to meet project timelines * Conducting and documenting regular inspections in compliance with client standards * Identifying and resolving non-conformance issues promptly * Reporting on safety, quality, financials, and design modifications * Coordinating with designers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless execution * Championing safe construction practices through Jacobs’ Beyond Zero philosophy You’ll report directly to the Project Manager and serve as a trusted liaison between the client, contractor, and internal teams—ensuring risks are mitigated and communication stays clear and proactive. * Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline * Proven experience as a Resident Engineer or construction specialist on major bridge or transportation projects * Active Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain Texas PE via reciprocity within a few months * Strong knowledge of pre-design, pre-construction, building systems, construction engineering, and document control * Excellent communication and leadership skills with a collaborative mindset Ideally, you'll also have: * PTI Level 1 Multistrand and Grouted PT Inspector Certification * Experience with cable-stayed bridge design and construction engineering Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
