**107020BR** **Job Title:** Superintendent - New Haven, IN **Department/Function:** Sales, Customer Service & Origination **Job Description:** **Superintendent - New Haven, IN** Salaried, Exempt **Position Summary** The Superintendent is responsible for leading all daily operations of the elevator facility, including grain loading and unloading, sampling, grading, transferring, blending, conditioning, and storage. This position ensures a safe, efficient, and compliant workplace in accordance with company policies and applicable regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, DNR, etc.). The Superintendent provides strong leadership to salary and hourly employees, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement. This role emphasizes constructive employee development conversations to build capability, accountability, and engagement across all levels of the operation. **Key Responsibilities** + Develop and execute operational plans and schedules, prioritizing work to optimize productivity and resource utilization. + Demonstrate visible safety leadership by maintaining compliance with all occupational health and safety regulations and promoting a goal of zero injuries. + Identify and mitigate environmental, safety, and GMP hazards to protect employee well-being, product quality, and environmental integrity. + Effectively segregate, condition, and monitor grain quality to ensure long-term storage stability and shipment with minimal discounts. + Foster open communication and positive employee relations by engaging in regular, constructive development conversations focused on performance, growth, and skill enhancement. + Coach and mentor employees to achieve high levels of job proficiency and operational excellence; provide timely feedback and recognition for safe, effective work practices. + Maintain discipline and accountability throughout the facility while addressing performance concerns professionally and proactively. + Apply mechanical and electrical expertise to troubleshoot, maintain, and improve production systems, utilities, buildings, and grounds. + Collaborate with facility management to enhance safety, production quality, equipment reliability, and overall operational effectiveness. + Stay current with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to facility operations and system design. + Ensure adherence to corporate policies, procedures, and standards in all aspects of daily operations. + Lead preventive maintenance programs, inspections, and repairs to minimize downtime and maintain equipment performance. + Coordinate operational schedules with the Commercial team to ensure alignment with business priorities and customer needs. + Maintain accurate documentation of operations, maintenance, and safety activities; identify and implement cost-saving and efficiency improvements. + Support special projects and continuous improvement initiatives that advance facility performance and employee development. **Physical Requirements** + Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally. + Regular standing, bending, stooping, walking, and reaching throughout the day. + Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at heights. + Ability to work in confined spaces as required. + Full range of motion required to operate manual and powered tools and electrical test equipment. + Work performed indoors and outdoors year-round, including in dusty, noisy, or otherwise challenging environments. **Qualifications** + Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma/GED required with extensive on-the-job experience. + Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, including team development and performance management. + Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. + Proven ability to lead constructive employee conversations that build trust, engagement, and accountability. + Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. + Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications. + Demonstrated understanding of Safe Work Permitting and safety compliance. + Experience in report writing, documentation, and employee training. + Commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and professional development. + Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates.
