Superintendent - Drill Services
Position Description
The Drill Services Superintendent provides oversight and technical governance for all drilling activities across site. The role works in close collaboration with MRM leaders, regional teams, geologists, and contractors to ensure safe, efficient, and standardized drilling practices. While maintaining MRM accountability, delivering technical support and oversight, ensuring drilling programs are executed in alignment with site and regional objectives and contributes to the safe delivery of maximum orebody value.

Responsibilities:
Provide oversight and technical governance for all drilling activities across the assigned site.Oversee drill service activities in collaboration with the MRM teams, ensuring alignment with technical, safety, and cost objectives.Ensure Regional Drill Standards are clearly communicated, understood, and consistently implemented by Barrick teams and contractors across site. Establish site-based procedures based on the Drill Standards. Accountable for drilling safety, ensuring audits and inspections are conducted in line with Barrick standards and leading regular safety meetings with internal teams and external contractors.Review and advise on drilling KPIs, contractor performance dashboards, and cost efficiency metrics, ensuring consistent reporting and data analytics across all sites. Monitor and review performance against KPIs, and patterns of behavior within drilling; Take action to improve performance and to resolve non-compliance with the organization's policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions.Responsible for regular contractor performance reviews and support sites in developing action plans for underperformance or non-compliance.Coordinate site benchmarking of drilling productivity, performance, and cost metrics to identify improvement opportunities. Serve as the technical point of contact between site teams, regional management, Group Supply Chain, and external drilling contractors.Support contractor management for drilling; which includes providing technical oversite and approval of drilling bids, scope of works, and contract execution for MRM drilling contractors. Provide technical input on drill program design, rig selection, and own integration of drilling schedule with operational planning. Provide training and coaching to others throughout the organization in drilling to enable others to improve performance.Qualification Requirements:
High School Education as a minimum Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mining, Geological, or Mechanical) or equivalent advanced degree preferred.Ten (10) years’ relevant experience, including five (5) years’ experience with contractor drilling. Strong understanding of drilling contracts, bidding projects, and technical expertise in drilling processes.Proven track record managing drill contracts and contractor performance within large-scale mining operations.Strong understanding of both exploration and production drilling (DDH, RC) and associated geotechnical and sampling requirements.Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Experience working in Africa or similar remote mining environments preferred.Experience and Skills Requirements:
Ten (10) years’ relevant experience, including five (5) years’ experience with contractor drilling. Strong understanding of drilling contracts, bidding projects, and technical expertise in drilling processes.Proven track record managing drill contracts and contractor performance within large-scale mining operations.Strong understanding of both exploration and production drilling (DDH, RC) and associated geotechnical and sampling requirements.Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Experience working in Africa or similar remote mining environments preferred.What We Can Offer You:
