The Superintendent – KVHP (Kelowna Vernon Hospital Project) position is based at the KGH/VJH hospital sites in Kelowna and Vernon, BC and reports directly to the Construction Manager. This position is responsible for managing all field construction within a specific trade or multiple trades including planning, organizing, directing and controlling various project aspects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, budget including the reporting of project scope that is deemed outside of original IFT/IFC drawings (i.e. – Change Orders). + Manage the implementation of Company and legislated Health and Safety Programs, including Tool Box meetings, safety procedures, and compliance to PPE. + In conjunction with the Project Managers, plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget in accordance with Corporate Policies and Construction Business Processes (BPS). + Executes plan and evaluates schedules and site personnel to ensure project objectives are met. + Adherence to and implementation of Safety Management System for all projects. + Completion of site safety inspections & Task Observations. + Build and maintain customer and supplier/vendor relationships to enhance competitiveness in the industry and promote good customer relationships. + Assist Project Managers in preparing construction budget estimates for final approval. + Review work/contracts/WIP for areas of risk and correct deficiencies. + Assist Project Managers in planning and preparing construction schedules, milestones and monitor their progress against established schedules. + Assist Project Managers in preparing revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors. + Solicit and submit shop drawings between vendors, consultants and owners for approval. + Assist Project Managers in the preparation of Operation Maintenance Manuals (O&M's). + Co-ordinate and manage various small projects, as required, to support FMO. + Travel between Vernon Jubilee Hospital & Kelowna General Hospital to execute the above. + The above is not an exhaustive list of duties to be performed. WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS + 8-10 years of field experience SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS + Proven skills in construction scheduling, planning, and execution. + Supervisory and Leadership Skills. + Advanced site safety supervision. + Ability to read drawings and project/structural design interpretation. + Risk management. + Dispute resolution and negotiation skills. + Experience within an Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) is an asset along with experience and working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Windows & E-mail) is important. The expected salary range for this role is between $85,000 and $95,000. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate's qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience.
