Job Description

Join our dynamic traveling department as a Construction Superintendent, where you'll play a vital role in overseeing the construction of a very notable student housing and a dining hall. This position requires daily presence at the project site to ensure the smooth execution of work, set expectations, and maintain commitments while working in a fast-paced environment.

ResponsibilitiesRepresent the project site daily by setting expectations, responsibilities, and maintaining commitments.Review conceptual, schematic, and design development documents for constructability, phasing options, temporary protection requirements, site logistics, and other field construction issues. Recommend or evaluate construction options and efficiencies based on these reviews.Establish project site expectations for safety, quality, unforeseen conditions, housekeeping, and general conduct.Create and implement a project-specific safety program to address key or unique hazards introduced by site conditions or work methods.Provide safety orientation for every individual entering the site, emphasizing the importance of not sacrificing safety for speed.Discuss relevant safety topics with trade contractors weekly or more frequently if needed.Promptly report and investigate accidents and safety-related incidents, disciplining repeat or extreme violations.Plan and coordinate site logistics, including traffic patterns, equipment locations, and storage and staging.Collaborate with the Project Manager, client, and trade contractors to develop a work plan for the project.Coordinate project team's preparation for upcoming work through progress meetings.Oversee technical interpretation of construction documents and drawings, recommend construction methods and equipment as required.Discuss quality expectations with trade foremen prior to installation.Arrange pre-installation coordination meetings for overlapping work by multiple trade contractors.Arrange and coordinate timely permitting and required inspections to start and complete work.Prioritize and review critical submittals for dimensional control and constructability.Maintain rolling punch list defining final quality expectations and ensure completion.Verify and authorize trade contractor timesheets for extra work performed on a time and material basis.Authorize purchase requisitions for material, equipment, and labor as agreed upon.Complete thorough and accurate daily reports of progress and concerns, including daily weather and safety inspections.Continuously assess and analyze the project's status against goals, develop contingency plans, and revise construction strategy as required.Focus all parties on developing mutually acceptable solutions aligned with contractual agreements during conflicts and disputes.Compile fair and honest reports of the project team's experience with each trade contractor using the trade contractor evaluation survey.Complete assigned and required training for this role.Essential SkillsFive years of commercial construction experience in a leadership role as a Superintendent.OSHA 30 certification.Proficiency in Procore software.Additional Skills & QualificationsAbility to manage and plan work activities while recognizing safety concerns and promoting a safe culture.Familiarity with site requirements, tools, methods, and materials related to trade divisions.Strong writing and communication skills for diverse audiences.Problem-solving abilities and understanding of risk management in projects.Understanding of job cost accounting practices and ability to analyze reports.Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control, and supervision of large trade and subcontractor groups.Time management skills to meet deadlines consistently.Ability to create and build strong relationships with owners, architects, and contractors.Leadership and relationship-building skills for resolving conflicts or jobsite issues.Passion for team-based planning and problem-solving.Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Procore, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and Microsoft Project.Work Environment

The position is open to local or traveling candidates, overseeing $1 million worth of work per month. The work is typically scheduled for day shifts, with occasional Saturdays (usually 7 AM to 4 PM). The project involves overseeing 35 contractors, with a total value of $500 million.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/hr.
