VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT: SUPERINTENDENT – 100 TON TRUCKS

Lumwana Mining Company seeks to recruit a high-caliber experienced Superintendent - 100 Ton Trucks to join our Maintenance leadership team. We are in search of individuals who can champion Barrick's DNA by:

Reporting to the HME Manager, you will be responsible for improving the reliability and availability of the mobile maintenance team by building, assessing and continuously improving the availability of equipment.

 

Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Identify opportunities for continuous improvement of maintenance processes and systems.

Identify continuous improvement opportunities, while measuring and reporting on overall maintenance performance

Improve reliability of trucks to ensure that major production stoppages are averted, and budget availabilities and throughput is achieved.

Actively promote full cooperation between the maintenance and mining operation.

Prepare and control cost budgets for mobile maintenance teams.

Cooperate with the maintenance planners regarding input schedules and accurate information.

Promote and encourage compliance with the Safety & Health and Environmental policies, standards, procedures, and regulations. 

Identify and respond to risks by developing and implementing Environmental, Health and Safety plans in the workplace with the aim of entrenching a zero-harm culture.

Prepare and deliver on the annual maintenance budget in collaboration with both mining and reliability teams. 

Maintain the company’s assets in a responsible manner through allocation of maintenance resources, critical spares, and demanding quality of workmanship. 

Carry out routine and statutory inspections.

Participate and improve life cycle costing analysis of major equipment to inform decisions on replacement/refurbishment/component change out.

Increase the asset management maturity level through training, work management measures, defect elimination, asset tactics development and use of condition monitoring.

Provide in-depth technical support and troubleshooting mentorship to the maintenance execution team.

Carry out quality assurance reviews of planned and breakdown maintenance activities ensuring that it is carried out to defined OEM, site and legislative requirements.

Develop work procedures for the safe and quality execution of maintenance activities.

Develop and deploy improvement projects that improves work execution quality and people development.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

Minimum of a Degree in Mechanical, Electrical engineering or Applicable Certified TradeSignificant experience (10 years) in Heavy Earthmoving Equipment maintenance.Experience in large multi pit operations utilising large scale mining equipment. High levels of competency in the maintenance execution of Mining equipment Able to clearly demonstrate the aptitude to drive a light vehicle and hold a current Zambian drivers licence or be able to obtain one.Must have excellent written and oral communication skills in EnglishCompetent in incident/accident investigationProven ability to deliver results and act as a change agent.Demonstrated ability to lead a team safely and improve team safety awareness.High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry in Zambia.Experience in managing costs and budgeting.
