Superintendent – Foundations & Utilities
**Major Federal Marine Project | $120K–$160K | Oʻahu, HI** **Overview** The Pearl Harbor Dry Dock Replacement program is a multi-billion-dollar federal project and one of the most complex marine and heavy civil undertakings in Hawaiʻi’s history. This once-in-a-generation NAVFAC initiative will expand the Navy’s shipyard maintenance capacity and requires experienced leadership in foundations, utilities, and large-scale civil works. We are seeking a proven Superintendent with a background in deep foundations, underground utilities, and heavy concrete construction. This is a career-defining role offering the chance to lead critical scopes of work on a project of national defense importance. **Role Overview** As Superintendent for Foundations and Utilities, you will manage day-to-day field operations, directing crews and subcontractors across deep excavation, pile driving, shoring, dewatering, utility installation, and heavy concrete placement. You will ensure safety, quality, and productivity in accordance with federal, NAVFAC, and EM 385-1-1 requirements, while maintaining close coordination with Project Managers, Engineers, Navy stakeholders, and QC staff. **Key Responsibilities** Field Leadership + Supervise and coordinate deep foundation operations including piles, drilled shafts, shoring systems, and dewatering. + Oversee installation of underground utilities (water, sewer, storm drainage, electrical, and fuel systems). + Direct craft labor, subcontractors, and field teams, ensuring sequencing aligns with project schedules. Safety & Compliance + Lead site safety with strict adherence to OSHA and EM 385-1-1 protocols. + Implement and monitor the three-phase QC process, ensuring NAVFAC standards are met. + Conduct toolbox talks, daily hazard analyses, and maintain a strong safety culture across all crews. Production & Scheduling + Track and report on production rates, budgets, and equipment utilization, proactively addressing variances. + Maintain accurate scheduling with Primavera P6 and MS Project, coordinating foundations and utilities sequencing with other scopes. + Ensure timely delivery and proper use of heavy equipment, rebar, formwork, and materials. Stakeholder Coordination + Maintain effective, professional communication with Navy representatives, inspectors, consultants, and internal management. + Work closely with project engineers to resolve field challenges and maintain compliance. + Provide leadership in preparing work plans, daily reports, and close-out documentation. **Qualifications** + 10+ years of construction experience, with at least 5+ years as a Superintendent leading heavy civil, foundation, or utility scopes. + Proven ability to deliver deep foundations, underground utilities, and large concrete packages on major projects. + Experience on NAVFAC, USACE, or other federal/high-security facilities strongly preferred. + In-depth knowledge of EM 385-1-1 safety standards, hazard identification, and QC documentation. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office; scheduling skills with Primavera P6 preferred. + Strong leadership and communication skills, with a record of managing diverse field crews and subcontractors effectively. + Eligibility for base access to work on secure federal sites required. **Why This Opportunity?** + Competitive Salary: $120K–$160K, based on experience. + Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Holidays, 401(k) with employer match. + Career Growth: Long-term federal program with advancement opportunities across civil, utilities, and marine scopes. + Impact: Lead critical packages on a project central to Hawaiʻi’s infrastructure and U.S. naval defense readiness.
