We are looking for amid-level Substation Design Technician with5–10 years of experience in utility or consulting environments to join our growing team. This role requires a strong skillset in substation physical and electrical design, with hands-on expertise using Autodesk Substation Design Suite (SDS). The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently on complex design packages while collaborating effectively with engineers and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:Develop and revise detailed substation design drawings (one-lines, three-lines, wiring diagrams, physical layouts, grounding, conduit, etc.) using SDS and AutoCAD.Interpret engineering specifications, utility standards, and field data to produce accurate and constructible design packages.Coordinate with electrical engineers, project managers, and other design staff to ensure design consistency and quality.Review and redline drawings for accuracy, compliance, and constructability.Maintain drawing documentation and version control in accordance with company and client standards.Support field teams with design clarifications and revisions during construction.Required Qualifications:5–10 years of experience in substation design, with a strong focus on physical and electrical layout.Proficiency in Autodesk Substation Design Suite (SDS) and AutoCAD Electrical.Solid understanding of substation components, protection & control systems, and utility design standards.Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and construction drawings.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with 3D modeling in SDS or other Autodesk tools.Familiarity with NESC, NEC, and utility-specific design standards.Experience working with transmission and distribution voltages (69kV–500kV).Knowledge of document control systems and project lifecycle workflows.What We Offer:Competitive salary and benefits packageOpportunities for career advancement and technical trainingA collaborative, team-oriented work environmentInvolvement in high-impact energy infrastructure projects
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
