Position Summary Information Position Summary The assistant director of transfer admissions works in a highly collaborative manner with the supervisor of the position in determining workflow and prioritizing projects regarding the overall operation of the transfer recruitment area in the office of undergraduate admissions. Examples of work assigned to this position include: + Review transfer applications, make admissions decisions based on credentials, and review for scholarship potential + Evaluate transcripts of admitted transfer students to determine course equivalencies and potential credit exemptions + Perform admissions counseling with prospective transfer students and families + Attend college day/night programs, regional/national college fairs for transfer student recruitment + Visit community colleges and attend meetings and other events for transfer student recruitment + Serve as team lead for campus visit strategies and the coordination of special recruitment events/bus trips + Serve as liaison for denied freshmen students interested in transferring after post-secondary studies elsewhere + Coordinate National Student Clearinghouse initiatives to re-recruit first-year cohort to build back transfer funnel + Assist in the development of yield postcard series and marketing plan to implement series according to funnel category + Assist with the development and maintenance of Transfer Admissions website + In and out-of-state travel and non-traditional hours (weekend, weeknight, and overnight) will be required Minimum Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree required. + Completion of one admissions recruitment cycle (fall and spring). + Evidence of excellent written communication skills. + Evidence of strong interpersonal and organizational skills. + Word processing/spreadsheet competency. + Experience working with diverse constituencies, including faculty, deans and senior staff, admission office colleagues, students, parents, school counselors and alumni. + Must have a valid driver’s license, be able to work weekends, and travel with overnight stays. + Candidate must perform well in the interview and successfully deliver a formal presentation. + Completion of successful background checks also required. Preferred Qualifications + Master’s degree + General knowledge and understanding of higher education. + Direct experience in admission office of non-profit regionally accredited college/university. + Working knowledge of admission information systems and third party vendors, especially Banner. + Direct experience working with the transfer population. + Ability to work effectively alone, autonomously, independently, with minimal supervision as well as group situations. + Evidence of energy, flexibility, integrity, and creativity. + Experience working with diverse populations.
