Study Away Mentor (AY 25-26 C91368)

This position is in direct support of the Middlebury Study Away at Monterey program. The GA will work with the director of the program on general program management, including tracking expenses, managing schedules, and assisting in event coordination. Key responsibilities include: organizing and participating in local excursions in the Monterey area, providing mentorship to the undergraduate students in the program, supporting students as they navigate graduate-level coursework, and helping students identify and participate in relevant academic and community events. The GA is expected to work 10 hrs/week throughout the semester. The position begins on August 19th with mandatory in-person orientation participation Aug 28-29. 

The Middlebury Study Away at Monterey program is a program for undergraduates from US colleges and universities to spend a semester or a year at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. The undergraduate students learn alongside graduate students, taking classes in different degree programs. Undergraduate students enrolled in the program take a full load of graduate classes and are fully integrated into the academic life at MIIS. While studying at MIIS the undergraduate students can access the academic opportunities at the institute– learning from experts, attending community events, and working at the research centers.

This position is compensated at the Level B rate on the MIIS student wage scale. $17.00 - $17.50 per hour

​Support director in management of the program ​Work with the director to identify, organize, promote, and participate in events and excursions in the Monterey community ​Mentor students on course selection, assignments, and engagement ​Organize monthly lunches with MIIS students, staff, and faculty around specific topics (e.g. getting into graduate school) ​Track reservations and expenses for all excursions/activities​
