Job Summary
The College of Liberal Arts is seeking a Student Success Coach. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Student Success Coach is a professional faculty member serving in the College of Liberal Arts. The Success Coach will provide first year coaching through one-on-one sessions and academic success workshops. They will also work transfer students and students who need assistance in the College of Liberal Arts Advising Center. The Success Coach will help students develop connections, navigate issues, and establish goals for academic success. Recognizing that students are the experts in their own lives, the Success Coach works with students to develop academic skills, learning strategies, goal setting and life management through coaching and mentoring. The purpose of this position aligns with the Oregon State University mission and strategic plan and the College of Liberal Arts strategic plan to achieve student access and persistence. This position may require occasional travel as part of training, professional development or outreach efforts.
The Success Coach will utilize various forms of communication including in-person appointments, telephone appointments, Zoom, e-mail, etc. to stay connected with students. Students may be part of the Corvallis campus or Ecampus.
The Student Success Coach works with diverse student populations representing a variety of backgrounds, needs, and skills. Important aspects of the work include a holistic approach to academic success coaching, attention to detail, and frequent contact with other units within the university.

Key Responsibilities
85% Provide one-on-one coaching and mentoring for individual students including E-campus students.
10% Programming and Administration
5%Duties as assigned.
What You Will Need
+ Bachelor’s degree in discipline of choice.
+ Two years of academic advising experience or two years of working with college students on issues such as advising, academic success, academic coaching, counseling, orientation, student support, or retention services.
+ Strong communication skills: written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to maintain student records accurately and confidentially.
+ Problem solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
+ Ability to prioritize and support both on campus and Ecampus populations of students.
+ A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing inclusive excellence.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
What We Would Like You to Have
+ Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Services Administration, Education, Counseling, Social Science, or similar discipline.
+ Three or more years of professional experience providing academic coaching or advising within a higher education setting.
+ Experience with online learning or willingness to learn.
+ Experience with student information systems (e.g. Banner, CORE , Web for Advisors), degree audit systems, and Microsoft Office.
+ Understanding of adult lifespan development and experience advising/coaching individuals who are facing a variety of life challenges.
+ Education or experience in a College of Liberal Arts discipline.
+ Fluency in a language other than English.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
This office is student centered and works collaboratively. A willingness to engage with colleagues and campus partners is important to a functional office and helps provide exceptional support to students. Typically, M-F 8am to 5pm, some evenings and weekends are required.
