**Job Description**
The purpose of the Student Relations Director is to develop and assess effective strategies to improve the experiences and successes of students within the college and school. The position is a resource to both students and faculty in the areas of recruitment and retention; general advising; student complaints; student conduct; and academic petitions. The position is designed to provide recommendations and innovative solutions to solve complex student issues.
Responsibilities
+ Coordinate general academic advising activities to foster student success
+ Manage student conduct, student complaints, student petitions, and student appeals to advance the student experience
+ Develop, support, and assess initiatives designed to increase recruitment and retention for the College and its programs to support program and College growth/sustainability
+ Serve as a liaison/resource to the College and the University to ensure consistent and appropriate implementation of relevant policies, procedures, and practices
+ Other duties as assigned
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Master’s degree in College Counseling, Higher Education Administration or related field
+ One year professional experience in advising, student affairs, and/or recruitment and retention, academic affairs or related experience
+ Demonstrated ability to engage in the best practices and procedures of student advising/counseling and higher education administration
+ Demonstrated skills in collaborating with multiple functional areas to advance student success
+ Demonstrated excellent interpersonal written and oral communication skills
+ Demonstrated skill in writing concise, accurate, and professional reports
+ Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills including data interpretation
+ Demonstrated skills in working with diverse student and employee populations
**Preferred Qualification**
+ Knowledge of the theoretical principles of advising/counseling and higher education
+ Three years professional work experience at a state college or university in College Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or related field
+ Demonstrated ability to effectively create and deliver professional presentations for large and diverse groups
+ Demonstrated ability to work professionally with varied external organizations/entities
**Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)**
Typically 8:00am-4:30pm M-F along with some weekend and evening hours
