Student X-Ray Technician (GXMO) - Mercy Health Lorain
Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
This role performs digital X-ray studies on patients per the orders placed by providers. This is a multi-skilled clinical professional who works within the scope of practice to assist in patient care under the direction of the Radiologist
Essential Job Functions
Performs provider ordered radiographic examinations for specific anatomical parts allowed by obtained licensure
Conducts proper patient positioning, immobilization, utilizing appropriate radiation protection
Determines and selects proper electronic and technical factors which safeguard the patient, x-ray tube, and equipment, and reports immediately any malfunction, necessary adjustments, or repairs of equipment to supervisor
Assists in medical documentation and clinical assistant duties as directed and supervised by the Provider
Participates in promotion of positive culture and teamwork and demonstrates excellence in care in all interactions, for both patients and internal teams
Maintains a safe and supportive environment by keeping the work area, exam rooms, and equipment in clean, orderly, and safe manner
Understands and adheres to the legal responsibilities and requirements within the role

Licensing/Certification
Limited Scope Radiology Licensure or General Machine X-Ray Operator Licensure per state requirement (required)
BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (preferred upon hire, required prior to independent patient care)
Education
High School Diploma or GED (required)
Work Experience
1 year of healthcare or clerical physician practice experience (preferred)
Training
EPIC Electronic Health Record (preferred)
Patient Population
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.

Working Conditions
