Student Intern Pharmacist
**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Rotating Shift **Description:** Posting Qualifications - Prepares patient drug orders. - Delivers medications and IV admixtures to patient rooms, critical care areas, and other ancillary areas. - Reviews patient MAR and care plans to determine need to return medication to the pharmacy for credit. - Picks up medication orders from nursing areas and distributes for processing. - Credits to the patient and restock usable medications/IVs returned to the pharmacy. - Files medication orders. - Fills unit-dose exchange envelopes. - Processes medication drawers and orders files for admissions, discharges, and transfers. - Assists the pharmacists with audits. - Completes assigned unit inspections. - Restocks automated medication dispensing machines (AcuDose or Pyxis). - Enters fill stock requisitions for other departments. - Restocks tackle boxes and cart inserts (crash carts, airway carts, latex carts), and completes check in/out process. - Communicates stock utilization and ordering needs. - Checks medication expiration dates and alerts pharmacist when needed. Qualifications + High school diploma or GED. + Current enrollment in a pharmacy school or program or proof of verbal commitment to a pharmacy school or program. + ​​Must be registered as a pharmacy intern with the State of Iowa at the time of hire or registered as a Technician in Training for up to 12 months until able to apply for Intern status after first day of pharmacy school or program. May also be registered as a Certified Pharmacy Technician until Intern status can be obtained. + ​Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire.
