Requisition 202500356ST Title Student Employee- First-Generation Center--Ambassador--(College Work-study) Employee Class Student Employee College Work Study Position Yes Department Office of Student Experience & Retention Division Division of Student Affairs Hours per week 15 - 20 Hiring Rate $10 Preferred Student Classification Sophomore – Senior Nature & Purpose of Position The SHSU First-Generation Center is currently seeking passionate and dedicated first-generation students to serve as Student Ambassadors. In this role, ambassadors will work closely with the Center’s leadership team to support daily operations and lead targeted programming designed to uplift and engage the first-generation student community.

Other Requirements for the Position First-Generation Student Ambassadors play a vital role in advancing the university’s mission to engage and support first-generation Bearkats. These ambassadors will lead and coordinate the First-Generation Center’s signature programs and events throughout the academic year, serving as key connectors between the university and its first-generation student community.

In their role, Student Ambassadors will assist first-generation students in navigating university life, including events, services, and challenges that may be unique to their experience. They will also help develop and implement strategies that promote student success at SHSU.

Additionally, First-Generation Student Ambassadors will support daily office operations, including answering phones, welcoming and assisting guests, and maintaining an organized and efficient office environment.

· Serve as a representative of the SHSU First-Generation Center.

· Assist and collaborate with center leadership with the incorporation of co-curricular activities and workshops.

· Welcome and engage with prospective first-generation students and their families.

· Encourage involvement in the First-Generation Center, university organizations, and campus events.
