Requisition 202500345ST Title Student Employee-Academic Success Center-Math Tutor Employee Class Student Employee College Work Study Position No Department Academic Success Center Division Division of Academic Affairs Hours per week 12 - 20 Hiring Rate 10.00 Preferred Student Classification Nature & Purpose of Position Tutor Role OverviewTutors will help students strengthen their skills in mathematics, from developmental math through Calculus I. They will also provide support with the math components of other STEM courses.Responsibilities: Work with students one-on-one or in small groups, either in person or online Assist with study strategies, content review, and homework assignments Provide guidance across a range of math levels and related STEM subjects Commit to 12–20 hours per week (schedule based on need and availability) Actively work toward College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) certification, which is part of the employee evaluation process Other Requirements for the Position Qualifications:a. 3.0 overall GPA b. Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at SHSU for at least 2 semesters.c. You must have maintained an A or B average in the course you are applying to tutor for.d. Two recommendation letters from faculty/instructors who can discuss your math skills and your ability to work with students.e. MUST have completed a FAFSA for the current academic term. If you have applied for FAFSA, and you qualify for Work Study, you will be asked to accept your Work Study award.
