We are seeking a Mechanical or Industrial Engineer Student at Minnesota Ore Operations. The Internship affords the opportunity to apply educational experiences to real world engineering principals.  This position is a temporary full-time position for the summer of 2026 and will be located at Minntac in Mountain Iron, MN. The salary rage of $23-$25 is a good faith estimate.  Based on candidate skills/experience the final offer may be lower/higher.  This is a safety sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing.

Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Report directly to maintenance managers and work along-side RCM to improve production at Minntac and Keetac.Apply engineering principles, troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques to evaluate and make decisions that resolve operational conditions and improve reliability.Assist in supervising, directing, and coordinating efforts of experienced technicians, craftsmen, and project planners to repair and maintain mechanical and/or electrical equipment to maximize operating efficiencies.Assist in building a yearly to 10-year mine maintenance plan.Research and supplier communications regarding mobile equipment upgrades and technological advances.Work directly with the fleet manager and assist in daily duties.Assist in coordinating repairs and preventative maintenance with a team of mechanical and electrical maintenance staff. Use technical knowledge, equipment documentation, safety procedures and maintenance schedules to follow, improve and develop preventative and routine maintenance programs.  Devise and implement cost saving strategies. Requirements:Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.Candidates must be a current student and have completed their sophomore year by June 2024 and be in good academic standing.Must have at least a 2.75 GPA, will accept 2.5 with experience.Be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.Preferred Skills:We are looking for motivated self-starters that can work in a fast paced, data-driven environment.
