United States Steel Corporation has an immediate opening for a Process Innovation Engineer-Intern in our department based at our Research and Technology Center in Munhall, PA. The Material Process Innovation Engineer -Intern will work under the direction of a Process Innovation Engineer to support U. S. Steel’s Product Portfolio.
The student will partner with a Material Development Engineer(s) and contribute to the team by:Developing an understanding inclusion analysis by use of SEM Process data collection concerning steelmaking & casting Developing internal work requests for lab work and simulations on material and reviewing resultsTracking material as it processes through the manufacturing process Reviewing and communicating production trial resultsThis position will provide the student with exposure to various aspects of U.S. Steel’s overall business, as well as interaction with cross-functional teams. The student should gain a well-rounded knowledge of the company’s product development process and the Research and Technology Center facility.
REQUIRED:Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Material Science & Engineering or Materials Engineering or Metallurgical & Materials Engineering Completion of at least sophomore year and be in good academic standingAbility to start work in summer of 2025 and beyondAbility and willingness to work an average of 40 hours/week during the summer, with an option to work a minimum of 16 hours/week during the school monthsContinuation of an acceptable grade point average while participating in the programUse of thermodynamic models coupled with VBA, python, and MATLAB preferred Excellent planning and organization skills Computer literacy to a working skills level - proficient with Microsoft Office productPreferred Skills :

The successful undergraduate will be an analytical problem solver, have an extremely high level of customer focus and a passion for process improvement. In addition, a successful intern will have: Demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and an aptitude for your area of studyA strong record of team, project and/or people leadership in a work setting and/or extracurricular activities A willingness to take initiative to understand the businessAn aptitude for problem solving; strong writing and verbal communication skills A strong commitment to excellence and to personal and professional growth Must be resourceful, responsible, tenacious, curious, independent, confident and high energy The ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
