U. S. Steel is seeking a Product Testing & Characterization Engineer Intern for our Research Department in Munhall, PA.  The successful applicant will work with our Mechanical Test Lab Supervisor, Material Development Engineers, and Engineering Technicians to lead a project focused on improvement of lab testing processes. The following is a list of duties and responsibilities related to the project:Plan and execute laboratory-based projects to meet specific goals and objectivesWork independently on projects while relying upon available resourcesDevelop a technical understanding of the project by effectively working with the project team, using online resources, and internal expertsReport frequently on progress using established communication protocolsPrepare, submit, and present a final project report at the end of the internship.Job Requirements:Candidates must maintain a 3.0 or higher overall GPACandidates must be a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s degree, in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or Mechanical EngineeringCandidates must have completed or be working towards completion of their sophomore year and be in good academic standingCandidates must be authorized to work in the US without sponsorshipPreferred Skills:We are looking for motivated self-starters who can work in a fast paced, data-driven environment.
