Position SummaryUnder the guidance of the Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Development & NIL, the Student-Athlete Development Assistant plays a vital role in empowering a diverse community of student-athletes. This position is dedicated to fostering personal growth, enhancing career readiness, and promoting civic engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic organizational support for Aztecs Going Pro, the department’s comprehensive four-year student-athlete development initiative Coordinate and execute programming that supports student-athlete personal, academic, and professional development Engage regularly with student-athletes to promote leadership, life skills, and civic involvement Collaborate with campus partners and athletic staff to deliver impactful workshops and events Develop a working knowledge of NCAA eligibility rules and academic support systems Why You Should Apply:

Position Information
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2026, with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs. The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Education and Experience
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job-related field. Specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown below may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Key Qualifications
Demonstrated commitment to full compliance with NCAA, conference, and San Diego State University rules, policies, and procedures in all aspects of job performance. Excellent organizational and leadership skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective relationships with administration, faculty, coaches, parents, student-athletes, constituents within the university, and the university community. Experience working in a Division I athletic department advising/tutoring/mentoring student-athletes. Knowledge of NCAA initial and continuing eligibility requirements. Previous experience teaching is preferred.
