We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Student Technician to support our Atlantic Onshore Operations Team at Cenovus. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in onshore oil and gas operations, including exposure to maintenance, logistics, and safety processes within a dynamic office environment. While the position is primarily onshore, it may include an offshore trip, providing valuable insight into offshore operations.

What you’ll do
Assist with onshore equipment and facility maintenance, including routine checks and minor repairs to ensure operational efficiency.
Support planning and coordination of logistics for offshore trips, including materials, documentation, and compliance requirements.
Conduct routine inspections of onshore systems and report any issues to senior technicians or supervisors.
Participate in safety meetings and drills, ensuring adherence to Cenovus safety protocols across onshore and offshore activities.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inventory, and operational data within onshore facilities.
Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical or logistical challenges in onshore operations.
Assist in preparing technical reports, documentation, and updates for onshore projects and offshore support activities.
During a possible offshore trip, support basic equipment checks and assist with operational tasks under supervision, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Who you are
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in Canada full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa)
Available to begin work in May 2026
Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work in a team environment and follow instructions
Willingness to work offshore
Good communication skills, both written and verbal
Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office

Education
Must be enrolled in a Process Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology or Electronic Systems Engineering Technology Program at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term
Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered
New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
Working Conditions
May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.
Safety Sensitive
This may be a safety-sensitive role, and you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.
You must be able to travel via helicopter and boat. This position requires the successful candidate travel offshore, there you will be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance and obtain all required training necessary for offshore travel.
Consistent with the Accords Act, residents of Newfoundland and Labrador specifically and Canada generally, who are qualified, will be given first consideration for training and employment.
