Structures Packaging Mechanic

a skilled technician responsible for the maintenance, repair, and setup of complex packaging machinery, specifically focusing on the structural components of the packaging line, ensuring proper functionality and product integrity by performing adjustments, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and conducting preventative maintenance on equipment like conveyors, fillers, and sealing mechanisms within a manufacturing environment. 

Key responsibilities may include:

Preventative maintenance:

Regularly inspecting and servicing packaging machinery, including structural components like frames, supports, and mounting systems, to identify potential issues before they become major problems. 

Troubleshooting and repair:

Diagnosing mechanical faults on packaging lines, including issues related to structural integrity, and performing necessary repairs using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment. 

Changeovers and setup:

Adjusting and configuring packaging machinery for different product sizes and configurations, including modifications to structural components to accommodate varying packaging needs. 

Component replacement:

Replacing worn or damaged parts on packaging machinery, including structural components like bearings, belts, and mounting hardware. 

Reading blueprints and technical manuals:

Interpreting engineering drawings and equipment manuals to understand the proper assembly and maintenance procedures for complex packaging systems. 

Quality control:

Ensuring packaging machinery operates within specified parameters to maintain product quality and prevent defects. 

Safety compliance:

Adhering to safety protocols while working on packaging machinery and reporting any potential hazards. 

Required skills:

Mechanical aptitude: Strong understanding of mechanical principles, including gears, bearings, and pneumatic systems.  Problem-solving skills: Ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues and develop effective solutions  Hand and power tool proficiency: Skilled use of various hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments  Blueprint reading: Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation  Attention to detail: Maintaining accuracy and precision during maintenance tasks 

Work environment:

Manufacturing facility with exposure to noise and moving machinery May involve lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces
