Job Title: Structural Welder

Job Description

The successful candidate will perform structural welding in a shop environment. Responsibilities include fitting and welding drilling products, fuel tanks, and various structural objects using mild steel. Tasks involve both bench fitting components for rigs and mobile oilfield units and welding the structure of a drilling rig, with a 50/50 split between fitting and welding for day shifts and a 20/80 split for night shifts. The role also involves using oxy-fuel cutting torches, with fit-up tolerance at approximately 1/8\".

Responsibilities

Perform structural welding using fluxcore and metalcore techniques.Fit and weld drilling products and fuel tanks in a shop environment.Work on the bench fitting of components for rigs and mobile oilfield units.Use oxy-fuel cutting torches with a fit-up tolerance of approximately 1/8\".Weld the structure of drilling rigs with a 50/50 split with fitting (20/80 split for night shift).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

CWB ticket for Flat, FCAW & SMAW.Experience in TIG welding.Experience in Quality Control.Alberta overhead crane ticket.Lead hand experience.

Work Environment

The shop is located in SE Calgary and employs roughly 30 trades workers, with plans for expansion in 2024. The afternoon shift runs Monday to Thursday from 2:30pm to 1:00am, offering a 3 dollar premium for afternoon shifts. You will receive overtime pay after 10 hours on any given day, regardless of total hours worked that week.
