Description of Work Unit
Provide administrative, management & professional services to facilitate and accomplish new construction, renovation, and/or replacement of the physical facilities and infrastructure of the campus in support of the University’s mission and strategic plan. Provide remodel and construction services to the various departments on campus to fulfill the mission of the university community. Services provided are project management and administration, project design, carpentry, paint, plumbing, electrical, and labor services.
Position Summary
The position exists to provide supervisory services for the unit’s Drywall services trades that support both remodels and single craft jobs. Position involves scheduling work flow and personnel time, approving time cards, and specific job charges, approving leave time, job management for both interior and exterior campus surfaces using current University Standards.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must demonstrate in the application materials:
Experience Only:
+ Six years of full-time commercial journey level drywall experience which may include hanging, finish, and texture; working knowledge of metal framing means and methods.; experience with performing layout, material take offs, estimating time and material.
OR
Education and Experience:
+ A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, and/or commercial journey level drywall experience which may include hanging, finish, and texture; working knowledge of metal framing means and methods.; experience with performing layout, material take offs, estimating time and material equal to six (6) years.

Manages carpentry/Drywall unit personnel and resources. Participates with developing employee performance plans, mid-year review and end of cycle evaluations.This also requires managing requests from supervised staff for personnel leave time; sick leave, annual leave, etc. with an emphasis of maintaining work/project schedules. Approves labor by staff applied to work orders. Assists with accessing, tracking, and providing training for safety, building code, University building standards and departmental training.

Analyzes remodel and single trade job requirements in order to appropriately schedule physical performance of required work and to ensure all appropriate staff, necessary tools, equipment and materials are on job site. Gathers information, consults with, and coordinates with manager and other unit supervisors in order to accomplish this task. Analyzes final product for continued quality improvement effort.

Manages both the demolision and the carpentry/framing portion of job from beginning to end by assisting with supervision, layout and production. Participates with on site project and safety meetings.
