Job Description:
Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Structural Systems Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to provide technical and project engineering support to the Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GM) Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) Project Office (GMX).
What You'll Be Doing:
Provide engineering support for missile systems and components
Actively participate in All-Up Round (AUR) Integrated Product Team (IPT) activities and working groups focused on NGI Missile Systems Structural Engineering activities
Support failure investigations and procedure validations/verifications
Establish and gain knowledge of specific contractor development activities and assist to maximize Government IPT team participation in key areas to include prototype testing, design reviews, risk reviews, contractor trade studies, and other contractor design and development efforts
Participate in engineering oversight and management of NGI contractor
Provide direct review of Contract Data Requirements List (CDRL) and Objective Evidence (OE) deliverables and/or coordinate reviews of such items with agency Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
Review change in designs and engineering change proposals and document
Provide staff utilization and planning inputs to take full advantage of the ability to provide contractor oversight and independent assessments
What Required Skills You'll Bring:
BS Degree in STEM
7+ years of related experience in Systems Engineering
Active Secret clearance
Ability to provide Structural Engineering evaluation and assessments including recommendations
Experience in the structural design and qualification of missiles
Experience with analysis programs such as MS Excel, Python, MATLAB
Experience with fatigue analysis, cumulative damage theory, failure analysis of mechanical components and systems
Experience leading a collaborative team to deliver rigorously planned, coordinated, and synchronized results
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently
What Desired Skills You'll Bring:
Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Degree preferred
Experience in MDA processes
Ability to develop documents for Program Reviews and Engineering Review Boards (ERB)
Experience with the design and analysis of bolted joints and bearing design
