Job Title: Structural Engineer Location: Bolingbrook, Illinois Type: Contract to Direct Compensation: $45/hr plus or minus depending on experience Contractor Work Model: Onsite Hours: 5 – 8 hours day System One is seeking a skilled Structural Engineer for an exciting contract opportunity within the Oil and Gas, Power, and EPC sectors. Key Responsibilities: + Lead and perform civil and structural engineering duties, including planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures. + Manage project workforce, budgets, and materials to ensure project goals are met efficiently. + Design and assess the safety of temporary structures used during construction. + Analyze survey data, maps, and reports to develop precise project plans. + Evaluate construction costs, environmental risks, and compliance with government regulations; prepare permit applications for local, state, and federal agencies. + Conduct or supervise soil testing to verify foundation strength and suitability. + Test construction materials such as concrete, asphalt, and steel for quality and compliance. + Prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment to determine project feasibility. + Oversee surveying operations to establish reference points, grades, and elevations critical for construction accuracy. + Present technical data and project updates to teams and stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and problem resolution. + Apply proven engineering techniques and adapt methods as necessary for specific project requirements. + Provide technical expertise, including training and guidance to team members and clients. Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. + 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in structural engineering within oil and gas or related industries. + Proficiency with E3D software is required. + Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is preferred; candidates on track to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) license are encouraged to apply. + Strong understanding of construction safety standards, environmental considerations, and regulatory compliance. + Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
